2009 Bowl Games

The 2009-2010 NCAA Bowl Games are here!

What is the Week 14 Game of the Week?

Posted by ROWLERLOS On December - 3 - 2009

While I am sure that most of the country can’t wait to watch number 1 Florida, where “the girls wouldn’t dare wear anything but pink,” and number 2 Alabama take the field on Saturday afternoon, I am most excited about tonight’s big match up.

Being a Buckeye fan there is only one game that matters to me for the rest of the regular season.  That game is the  ”Civil War“, as it is nicknamed, #13 Oregon State vs #7 Oregon.   The winner will play, and lose to, The Ohio State Buckeyes on January 1st in the Rose Bowl.

This all brings me to a discussion about using military references in sports.  When I found out this game was nicknamed Civil War, the first thing that came to my mind was:

THE SOLDIERKellen Winslow - The Soldier

For those of you that do not know who the self proclaimed soldier is you are lucky.  This is K2 or Kellen Winslow Jr.

In 2003 his team lost to Tennessee and he said the following:

“Yeah, I don’t give a hell. It’s about this U, man. I don’t give a flyin’ you-know-what about a Vol. I don’t give a damn! He would do the same thing to me. It’s war. They don’t give a freakin’ you-know-what about you. They will kill you. They’re out there to kill you. So I’m ‘a kill ‘em. You write that in the paper. You write that. You make money off that. No, man, I’m pissed. All y’all take this down. I’m pissed, man. We don’t care about nobody except this U. We don’t. If I didn’t hurt him, he’d hurt me. They were gunnin’ for my legs. I’m ‘a come right back at ‘em. I’m a fuckin’ soldier!”

Or if you are sick of reading, see for yourself:

He caught a lot of heat about this as I think he should have.  When you lose a war there is a good chance that you are dead, not playing football in the Outback Bowl.  Of course my Cleveland Browns ended up drafting this motorcycle crashing piece of work.

Civil War is a terrible name for a game, especially since all you can win is a humiliating defeat to the Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl.  GO BUCKS!

As much as fear Oregon, I want a piece of them. O-H!

That is an amazing news story. I think the Internet is large enough for as many stories about this idiot as people can create.

    and Lon: I-O!
